This custom engraved acacia cutting board requires special care to maintain its appearance and functionality. Follow these care instructions:

Initial Care

1. Seasoning the Board: Before first use, apply a thin layer of food-grade mineral oil or cutting board oil to all sides of the board, including the edges. Let it soak for a few hours or overnight, then wipe off any excess.

2. Repeat Oil Treatments: Oil your board regularly, especially when it feels dry or after heavy use. This prevents cracking and enhances its natural luster.

Daily Use and Cleaning

1. Hand Wash Only:

Wash the board with warm water and mild dish soap using a soft sponge or cloth. Avoid soaking it in water.

2. Dry Immediately:

Wipe the board dry with a clean towel immediately after washing. Avoid air drying to prevent warping.

3. Avoid Harsh Conditions:

Do not place the board in a dishwasher, expose it to prolonged moisture, or leave it near extreme heat (e.g., stovetops).

Sanitizing

To sanitize, sprinkle coarse salt over the surface and rub with half a lemon. Rinse with warm water and dry immediately.

Alternatively, wipe the surface with a mixture of one part white vinegar to four parts water.

Removing Stains and Odors

1. Stains: Mix baking soda and water into a paste and gently scrub the stained area with a soft cloth or sponge.

2. Odors: Rub the board with lemon juice or vinegar, then rinse and dry.

Maintaining the Engraving

When cleaning the engraved area, use a soft-bristled brush to gently clean out any debris. Avoid abrasive scrubbers that may damage the details.

Regular oiling is particularly important in the engraved areas to prevent dryness and cracking.

Long-Term Care

Resurfacing: If the board develops deep cuts or wear over time, lightly sand it with fine-grit sandpaper, then reapply oil.

Storage: Store the board in a dry, well-ventilated area, ideally upright to prevent moisture retention on one side.

By following these guidelines, your acacia cutting board will remain beautiful and functional for years to come!
